I once said
“I will never be a direct sales consultant”
*Blush* Major oops. People – do not, I repeat, do not say statements such as these. They seem to come back around. For me, it was just a few months later.
First, I was invited to an Usborne Books & More online event. The host had mass invited. I ignored. It was just another one of those things.
However, fast forward just a couple more months I was invited to another Usborne event by someone else, via personal message. The hostess and consultant followed up with me, via personal message, not by tagging, posting on my wall, or just mass inviting. This got my attention. The consultant asked how my daughter and I had been doing (we had just briefly met via a kid swimming class) and then talked about how these books were great. She explained how much her kids (similar in age to my daughter) loved the books, and why there are different than other kids books.
I attended the event, and was hooked.
I remember sitting at my computer reading the posts, watching the book demo videos, and hearing other attendees talking about how much they loved these books. Intrigued, I bought a TON of books.
When they arrived, I was in complete awe. The vibrant illustrations, the non-fiction durable lift the flap books, the pull back books, the fold out Big books… My husband even took a double take.
245,306 questions later (thank you to my patient and understanding upline), I joined. Not only did I join, however the week leading up to me joining, I started talking to my family and friends about Usborne and why I was joining. I sent personal messages. I connected to people, and it worked.
The things I have learned about Direct Sales, and my Usborne Books & More Team
1. The product is amazing. Sure, children’s books in general are amazing, however these are unique, brilliant stories, learning activities, and products you cannot find somewhere else.
2. This team is different – My unfortunate experience being mass invited isn’t new to anyone, however I have found this isn’t and doesn’t have to be the norm. My team builds relationships. We support each other in this work providing training for new team members, both internally, and externally.
3. My family loves and supports me. I mean, just look at this. My daughter LOVES what I do. She knows when the Usborne box arrives on the doorstep there is typically something in there for her. It makes my heart happy how much she loves books and my work is supporting that.
If you are thinking about joining, June 2017 is a great time. It was just announced at Usborne Books & More Convention that this month only, it is only $50 to join! If you have questions, or 245,306 questions, reach out. I’m happy to support others and answer questions as you have them!
